Literatuur-Journalistiek-Weinkrampf

When one talks about books as a lover of literature then it's in most cases not about a book as Weinkrampf!. A booktitle with a exclamation mark in more then one way. I have not previously seen a book with the same connotations as Weinkrampf!: acting on the Netherlands of the past, the years after the Second World War, and the present: the Netherlands as a torn country, a country in a deep political and social crisis, facing up against the foreign religion of the Islam.

Another central theme in the book is the royal house of Holland, with as head queen Beatrix. During the famous boattrip of Survival.org the writer of the book, Dutch historian and psychologist, Peter Schlemihl, deals with nearly all highs and lows of the House of Orange. This through the talks of the participants, jews from Amsterdam, relatives from survivors of the holocaust.

The undisputed peak in the conversations is the marriage of pretender of the Dutch trone Willem-Alexander with Maxima, daughter of a former Argentin juntamember, being performed under the watchful eye of queen Beatrix. Writer Peter Schlemihl views this and a lot of other events with suspicion.

One can discuss books, one can read about books, one can even have an unswerving opinion about books, but a novel like Weinkrampf! will leave the reader in desperation.

Talking about books there is only one possible conclusion concerning the novel Weinkrampf!:
Sensational and Controversial

What is the secret of a good novel? The attraction it has on its readers? When one is talking about bestsellers, about books that sell, then indeed there much be an certain attraction of it on potential readers. Weinkrampf! does have this kind of attraction too. Simply by its cover one gets mesmerized. A piece of art on its own and a perfect reproduction of the content, of Holland in a deep sort of spiritual and social crisis.

The literary masterpiece of Peter Schlemihl is being discoverd only by a few literary connoisseurs. It should be noted that one praises the book into heaven or one rejects the content indignant. There seems not to be a middle course for a book like Weinkrampf!: As a reader one is in favor of the book or one radically opposes it. To which category do you belong?
